From Tangier to Granada: Where Two Worlds Meet

A Special Collaboration with Simon Marnie for just 8 people.

This is a trip that hums with history.

It begins in Tangier, where Africa leans toward Europe and the story of Al Ándalus quietly begins. For centuries, this was not a boundary but a crossing point, where ideas, flavours and traditions moved freely across the Strait.

From here, we follow those threads into southern Spain.

Al Ándalus was a place where cultures intertwined and something remarkable emerged. That legacy still lingers, not in museums, but in daily life. In the scent of orange blossom, the rhythm of flamenco, the tiles beneath your feet and the slow ritual of sharing a meal.

Over 15 days, we move through places layered with memory, from Tangier to Vejer, Cádiz, Seville, Córdoba and Granada. Along the way, you’ll meet the people who keep these traditions alive, and experience this part of the world as it’s meant to be lived.

This is more than a holiday. It’s a reconnection.

Welcome to From Tangier to Andalusia: Where Two Worlds Meet. This is a journey shaped by the living legacy of Al Ándalus.

This is a special collaboration with Simon Marnie, who will escort this trip.

The Highlights

The Moorish Thread

Rather than ticking off monuments, this trip invites you to feel the presence of Al Ándalus — in the tiles underfoot, in the silence of courtyards, in the spices on your plate. We’ll gently weave in the story of the Moors throughout the journey, so it comes alive in a way that’s felt, not just learned.

A Gourmet Journey

Savour the flavours of the Moors through unforgettable culinary experiences. From the tagines in Tangier to local sherry experiences, tapas and hands-on cooking classes in Spain, you’ll be connected to these lands and their people.

Boutique Stays with Soul

Each place you stay has been handpicked for its character, charm and connection to place — whether it’s a former merchant’s house in Tangier or a centuries-old home tucked into the Albaicín. These are the kinds of places that stay with you.

TANGIER

Tangier – La Tangerina

Perched high in the kasbah above the Tangier medina, La Tangerina feels like the kind of place you hope to stumble upon but rarely do.

Hidden behind an unassuming doorway, this beautifully restored riad is intimate, atmospheric and unmistakably Tangier. Terraces spill out over the rooftops of the old city, with sweeping views across the Strait of Gibraltar where Africa and Europe almost touch.

Rooms are filled with warm colours, carved wood, patterned tiles and soft textiles that echo the city’s layered history. In the mornings, breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace, where the call to prayer drifts across the rooftops and the sea glimmers in the distance.

It’s a peaceful, characterful base in the heart of the kasbah, just moments from the winding lanes of the medina, yet somehow worlds away from the bustle below. A place to slow down, take in the view, and begin to feel the rhythm of Tangier.

VEJER DE LA FRONTERA

Vejer De La Frontera – La Casa de Califa

Perched high on the breezy hilltops of Vejer de la Frontera, La Casa del Califa is more than just a hotel — it’s a portal into the rich, layered history of Andalucía. Set within a maze of whitewashed alleyways, this charming boutique hotel is steeped in Moorish heritage, with roots stretching back over ten centuries.

Step inside and you’ll find an atmospheric blend of hand-carved archways, ancient stone walls, and peaceful inner courtyards — a quiet retreat where you can slip effortlessly into the slower rhythm of southern Spain. Each room is individually styled, blending Moroccan, Andalusian and contemporary touches to create cosy, character-filled spaces. Some open out onto sun-drenched terraces, others are tucked into cool, shaded corners, but all invite rest and stillness after days spent wandering Vejer’s cobbled streets.

You’ll also be perfectly placed to enjoy one of the most picturesque villages in all of Spain — where every corner reveals flower-filled patios, artisan boutiques, and panoramic views that stretch all the way to the Atlantic.

CÁDIZ

Cádiz – Boutique Hotel Casa Cánovas

In the heart of Cádiz’s historic centre, Boutique Hotel Casa Cánovas offers a serene retreat that seamlessly blends 18th-century elegance with contemporary comfort. Housed in a beautifully restored noble mansion, this boutique hotel exudes understated luxury and timeless charm.

Experience the warmth of Cádiz hospitality in a setting that captures the essence of the city’s storied past and dynamic present.

SEVILLA

 Sevilla – Hotel Gravina 51

Tucked behind the elegant façades of Sevilla’s old town, Hotel Gravina 51 feels like a well-kept secret. Set within a lovingly restored 19th-century palatial home, the hotel carries its history lightly—arched stone, high ceilings and sunlit courtyards creating a sense of calm that contrasts beautifully with the city just beyond its doors. It’s the kind of place where time softens, mornings stretch, and the rhythm of Sevilla quietly seeps in.

Rooms are serene and generously proportioned, layered with noble materials, soft light and thoughtful modern comforts. Downstairs, breakfast unfolds unhurriedly beneath stone arches, while later in the day the bar invites a glass of sherry and a moment’s pause. The hospitality here feels deeply personal—attentive, proud, and quietly warm—making Gravina 51 less a hotel than a gracious Sevillano home, perfectly placed for exploring the city at your own pace.

GRANADA

Granada – Seda Residences

Tucked into the lively crossroads of Capuchinas and Lucena, Seda Residences offers a kind of home-with-soul in the heart of Granada. From the moment you step inside, there’s a lightness to the spaces — generous windows that draw in the afternoon sun, interiors designed for comfort without fuss, and a sense that every detail has been chosen to make these apartments feel both effortless and elegant. Here, the rhythms of the city are just beyond your door; the Alcaycín’s hidden alleys, the call of tapas bars, and the echo of cathedral bells all within easy reach, yet inside these walls there’s a hush that feels like your own private retreat.

The residences themselves are spacious and inviting, balancing sophistication with a lived-in ease that makes unpacking feel like coming home rather than arriving somewhere temporary. Polished floors and soft textiles frame open living spaces that welcome morning light, kitchens that encourage lingering breakfasts, and corners made for quiet evenings with a glass of wine in hand. With personalised touches and concierge service weaving in from nearby luxury hospitality, your stay here feels like a gentle unfolding — not rushed, not showy, just beautifully aligned with the cadence of Granada itself.

On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred into the heart of the kasbah, where your riad sits quietly above the medina. Once checked in, there is time to settle, unpack, and ease into your surroundings. Perhaps a moment on the terrace, taking in the rooftops and the distant shimmer of the sea.

The afternoon is yours. Wander the winding lanes or simply pause and let the rhythm of Tangier reveal itself.

In the evening, we come together for a relaxed welcome dinner. A first taste of Moroccan flavours, shared around the table as the group begins to connect and the journey gently unfolds.

Meals:  Dinner

Day 2 – Sunday 26 October: Tangier – A Town of Mystery, Arts & Scandal

Tangier is a city that has always drawn people in. Artists, writers, wanderers. Those looking for something just a little different.

After breakfast, we head out on foot with our local guide to explore its layered streets and stories. This is a city best understood slowly, through its contrasts. Quiet corners and lively cafés. Gardens, viewpoints, and the ever-present sense of history woven through daily life.

By early afternoon, we leave the city behind and follow the coast to a more relaxed setting. Lunch is long, generous, and centred around the sea. Fresh, simple, and shared, with the sound of the water never far away.

There’s time to return, rest, or wander once more before we come together again in the evening.

Dinner tonight is a more intimate experience, a traditional Moroccan meal prepared and shared in the warmth of our riad. A slower, quieter close to the day, and a chance to settle fully into the rhythm of Tangier.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 3 – Tuesday 27 October:  Crossing the Strait …

This morning, we farewell Tangier and make our way to the port. There’s something quietly significant about this crossing. In just a short journey, we move between continents. From North Africa into southern Spain, following a path that for centuries carried people, ideas and culture in both directions.

By midday, we arrive in Tarifa. The light shifts, the landscape opens, and Andalucía begins to reveal itself. From here, we continue inland to Vejer de la Frontera, stopping along the way for a long, relaxed lunch. Simple, generous food, deeply rooted in the region. The kind of place where nothing is rushed and everything is shared.

Then, Vejer. A whitewashed village rising above the countryside, shaped by its Moorish past and still holding onto its rhythm. Winding streets, hidden courtyards, views that stretch toward the Atlantic. It feels both grounded and quietly otherworldly.

Settle into your hotel, take a wander, or simply pause. This is your first step into Andalucía.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 4 – Wednesday 28 October:  A Taste of Andalucía …

If you want to understand Andalucía, you start in the kitchen. This morning, we meet our local chef and wander through the old town, gathering ingredients the way locals do. Slowly, intentionally, as part of daily life. Back in her home, we cook together. Simple, vibrant dishes shaped by the region and its Moorish roots. Olive oil, citrus, warm spices. Food that tells a story. Then we sit down to share it. A long, generous lunch, full of flavour and conversation.

The afternoon is yours. Time to wander Vejer, find a quiet corner, or simply rest.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 5 – Thursday 29 October:  An Introduction to Tapas …

This morning, we head out with a local who knows the town intimately. Not just where to eat, but how to eat here. We move through a handful of small bars and tucked-away spots, stopping as we go. A few dishes at each place, something to sip alongside, conversations unfolding naturally. Nothing rushed, nothing overdone. It’s less about ticking off tapas, and more about experiencing the culture around them. The way people gather, share, linger.

If you feel like extending the day, there’s also the option to spend the afternoon in the local hammam. Alternatively, take a wander through the cobblestoned lanes, or simply pause and settle a little deeper into the rhythm of Vejer.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6 – Friday 30 October:  A Private Taste of Cádiz: Salt and Sherry …

Today, we follow the Costa de la Luz north to Cádiz, stopping enroute at two very special places.

Our first stop takes us into the heart of sherry country, where we visit a small, family-run bodega not open to the public. Here, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how these wines are made, from vineyard to barrel, with tastings drawn straight from the source.

From there, we continue to the salt flats just outside Cádiz. A striking, elemental landscape where sea, sun and time come together. Lunch is relaxed and rustic, grounded in the flavours of the region and the simplicity of its setting.

By mid-afternoon, we arrive in Cádiz. A city surrounded by water, shaped by trade, history and a certain lightness of spirit. There’s time to settle into your hotel before stepping out to explore. Wander the narrow streets, find your way to the sea, or simply pause and take it all in.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 7 – Saturday 31 October: Sherry & Seafood

Today, we follow the coast to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where the river meets the sea and life revolves quietly around both. Here, sherry takes on a different expression. Lighter, more delicate, shaped by the salt air and the rhythm of the tides.

We step inside a private, centuries-old bodega, a place few are invited into. Among rows of ageing casks, you’ll be guided through a rare tasting of Manzanilla, each pour revealing something of the place, the process, and the people who have quietly preserved it. Afterwards, we head to the water for lunch. Simple, honest seafood, served just as it should be. Plates to share, something cold in your glass, the sea close by. The kind of place where time stretches and conversation lingers.

By late afternoon, we return to Cádiz. Salt in the air, and a deeper sense of where we are.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 8 – Sunday 1 November:  Behind-The-Scenes in Cádiz …

This morning, we explore Cádiz on foot with a local guide. A city shaped by centuries of movement and exchange, where each layer of history sits just beneath the surface. As you wander its sunlit streets and narrow lanes, stories begin to unfold. Of traders, travellers, and the cultures that have passed through and left their mark. Look closely, and you’ll notice it in the details. The layout of the old town, the quiet courtyards, the subtle traces of Al Andalus still woven into the fabric of the city. It’s a gentle, insightful way to come to know Cádiz. Not just what it is, but how it came to be.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

Meals:  Breakfast

Day 9 – Monday 2 November:  Heading inland to Sevilla …

This morning, we leave Cádiz behind and make our way inland to Sevilla. As you arrive, the shift is immediate. The light softens, the streets narrow, and the rhythm of the city begins to draw you in. This is the heart of Andalucía. Layered, expressive, and deeply shaped by its Moorish past.

After checking in, the afternoon is yours. Wander if you feel like it, or simply pause and settle into your surroundings.

In the evening, we head out with a local guide to experience Sevilla as it’s truly lived. Away from the main streets, into neighbourhood bars where the pace is unhurried and everything revolves around good food, good wine, and conversation. No set plan. Just a handful of stops, chosen in the moment. This is Sevilla, as it should be.

Meals:  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 10 – Tuesday 3 November:  Behind-The-Scenes of Sevilla …

This morning, we step into the heart of Sevilla with our local guide. Wandering through the old quarter, the city begins to reveal itself. Layers of history, shaped by the meeting of cultures, still visible in the streets, the architecture, and the stories that sit just beneath the surface.

You’ll visit some of Sevilla’s most significant landmarks, including the cathedral and the Real Alcázar. Places that speak not just of grandeur, but of the craftsmanship, artistry and exchange that defined this period. It’s a deeper way to understand the city. Not just what you see, but what it means.

The afternoon is yours to linger.

And this evening, we come together for a special shared meal at the bar of a 1 Michelin-starred restaurant. A relaxed, elegant dinner that celebrates the best of Andalucía. Simple, seasonal, beautifully done.

Meals:  Breakfast, Dinner

Day 11 – Wednesday 4 November:  Into La Sierra de Huelva …

Today, we leave the city behind and head into the Sierra de Huelva, where life slows and tradition runs deep. This is jamón country. Rolling pastures, ancient oak trees, and the quiet rhythm of the land. We begin in a small hilltop village, a chance to wander and take in a different side of Andalucía before settling in for a long, relaxed lunch. Local produce, simple dishes, and wines from the region, shared slowly. In the afternoon, we visit a family-run farm, where Iberian pigs roam freely beneath the oaks. Here, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the process. From pasture to curing rooms, and the patience required to create something truly exceptional. And then, of course, we taste! We’ll return to Sevilla in the late afternoon and an evening exploring our favourite tapas bars awaits you.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 12 – Thursday 5 November:  A Taste of Moorish Andalucía …

This morning is yours. Wake slowly, or step out early into the golden light. A final coffee in a quiet square, a last wander through the old streets, or simply time to pause before we move on.

Late morning, we leave Sevilla and head east toward Granada. Along the way, we stop for lunch. An unhurried pause, somewhere local, where the journey continues at the table. Simple food, good wine, and a moment to stretch the day. By afternoon, we arrive in Granada. Set at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, this is the final chapter of Al Andalus. A city where its presence still lingers. In the architecture, the atmosphere, the quiet details that reveal themselves slowly. There’s time to settle into your apartment before stepping out to explore the very last of the Moorish strongholds in Spain.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 13 – Friday 6 November:  An Introduction to Liquid Gold …

Today, we travel deeper into the Andalusian countryside, where olive trees stretch endlessly across the landscape. This is the land of oro líquido — liquid gold — and a way of life shaped by it. We spend time among the groves, learning about the rhythms of cultivation and the quiet craft behind it, before visiting a local mill to see how it all comes together. There’s a tasting too, a chance to slow down and notice the subtle differences, the flavours, the depth. Lunch follows, rustic and generous, grounded in the produce of the land. By late afternoon, we return to Granada. This is a day that feels simple, but stays with you.

Meals:  Breakfast, Lunch

Day 14 – Saturday 7 November:  We’ve Saved the Best til Last…

This is what it has all been leading to. Late this morning, we step into the Alhambra. Perched above Granada, it reveals itself slowly. Light, shadow, water, silence. A place not just to see, but to feel. As you move through the palaces and gardens with your private guide, the story of Al Andaluss comes into focus. Not as history, but as something still quietly present. There’s a stillness here. A refinement. Every detail considered, every space designed to evoke something deeper.

Afterwards, we continue into the Albaicín. A different perspective, across the hill, where the Alhambra rises in front of you. The streets here are winding, intimate, full of life. A contrast that completes the experience. We pause along the way. A drink, something small to eat, time to take it in. And then, one final dinner together. A chance to gather, to reflect, and to close the journey where it feels most complete.

Meals:  Breakfast, Dinner
