Their Wishlist

Four weeks in Spain, done slowly and properly.

Sally and Colin wanted an immersive journey through the Northern Spain. They were spending time in France before Spain, and flying out of Barcelona at the end. They wanted time to settle into each place rather than rush through it. Food, wine, walking, and authentic local experiences were central, along with boutique stays full of character, no driving, and plenty of freedom to explore at their own pace.

As we refined the trip, we uncovered the details that would shape it in a more personal way — Sally’s love of weaving and fibre, and Colin’s passion for fly fishing. From there, the journey became not just about where they were going, but how it connected to what they love..

What We Created

They began in San Sebastián — settling into the rhythm of the Basque Country. Late mornings, markets, vermút, and long lunches that stretched into the afternoon.

Beyond the city, the Basque countryside — slower, more grounded. Time with local producers, traditional cider houses, and a coastal Camino walk from Orio to Getaria, finishing by the sea with seafood and txakoli.

In Bilbao, a shift in texture — bold architecture balanced with quieter, more tactile moments, including a private weaving experience inside a working studio.

Then La Rioja — where the days softened around wine. Vineyards, cellars, and evenings that unfolded slowly, one bar at a time in Logroño.

In Zaragoza, they paused. Space to wander, eat well, and take in a city layered with history, without needing to do too much.

The Pyrenees brought stillness. Several days of fly fishing in a remote setting — simple, quiet, and deeply restorative.

Then Priorat — raw, atmospheric, and connected to the land. Olive oil, vineyards, cooking over fire, and long lunches that became the day.

Finally, Barcelona — a lift in energy. Architecture, neighbourhood wandering, and a vibrant finish, still held within that same slower rhythm.

Their Favourite Experiences

Walking, Wineries & Seafood

A gentle stretch of the Camino that felt more like a coastal wander than a “hike” — clifftop paths, sea air, and long views over the Bay of Biscay. The walk unfolded slowly, through vineyards and small villages, before arriving in Getaria for a late, lingering lunch of fresh seafood and txakoli, poured exactly where it’s made.

Private wine experiences in La Rioja and Priorat

Two very different wine regions, each with their own rhythm. In La Rioja, it was about tradition — historic bodegas, cellar doors, and time spent understanding the craft. In Priorat, something more raw and atmospheric — steep vineyards, small producers, and wines that feel deeply connected to the land. Both experienced privately, with time to ask questions, taste properly, and not be rushed.

Pintxos Culture in San Sebastián

Not just eating — but understanding how it all works. Moving between bars, one bite at a time, guided by someone who knows the scene inside out. Standing at the counter, ordering, observing, tasting — and slowly finding their own rhythm within it. A way of eating (and living) that stayed with them long after they left.

A Hands-On Cooking Experience

A day that began at a local market and ended around a fire. Cooking outdoors, using traditional methods, with ingredients gathered that morning — rice slowly simmering over vine cuttings, appetisers shared as everything came together. Less about “learning to cook” and more about stepping into the rhythm of how food is prepared and enjoyed here.

Fly Fishing in the Pyrenees

A complete shift in pace. Several days in the Pyrenees, surrounded by quiet, open landscapes, where the days were shaped by the water and little else. Early mornings, slow afternoons, and that rare feeling of switching off completely — simple, focused, and deeply restorative.

A Private Weaving Workshop

Tucked inside a working textile studio, this was something quieter and more personal. Time spent with a local artisan, learning the fundamentals of weaving, choosing fibres and colours, and creating something by hand. A rare chance to step inside a craft that’s usually hidden from view — and to connect the trip back to something Sally already loved.
